Old Fashioned Pumpkin Pie

The holidays are the perfect time to put Watkins Vanilla to the test. Pies, cookies, just about any dish tastes better when you use the best. This recipe for traditional pumpkin pie is sure to make this years holiday celebrations yummy!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp Watkins Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1-1/2 cups mashed, cooked pumpkin (or use canned)
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pastry pie shell (recipe on Web site)

Baking Directions

  1. Combine sugar, flour, and salt; beat in eggs.
  2. Stir in pumpkin and milk.
  3. Pour into pie shell.
  4. Bake at 400 for 50 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Vanilla Cream Topping

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 to 4 tbsp powdered sugar (depending on sweetness desired)
  • 1 tsp Watkins Original Double Strength Vanilla Extract

Topping Directions

  1. Chill the small bowl and beaters of an electric mixer (if in a hurry, place in freezer).
  2. Beat the cream in chilled bowl until it begins to thicken.
  3. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until stiff.
  4. Do not overbeat.

Makes 10 servings.
