Homemade Pizza

Since Watkins pizza dough is on sale this month you may opt to get it and make the dough recipe that follows another time.

This pizza recipe is from my sister, Stephanie, that she made in Home Ec class when in high school and I still make it today. I prepare the sauce and let it simmer while I make the dough.

Ingredients:
Sauce
1 cup tomato sauce
1/4     teaspoon Watkins Garlic salt
1/2     teaspoon Watkins Oregano
1/8     teaspoon salt
1/8     teaspoon Watkins Basil
1/8     teaspoon Watkins Thyme
1/8     teaspoon chili powder
dash of pepper
Directions:

Simmer gently while making crust.

Pizza Dough

Ingredients:
1/2         cup lukewarm water
1             package dry yeast (2 teaspoon)
1 1/4      cup flour
1/8         teaspoon salt
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water. Stir flour with salt. Add flour until a slightly stiff dough is formed. Knead about 20 times. Roll with rolling pin until 1/8 inch thick. Place in greased pan and turn up the edges and spread sauce. Add 1 cup mozarello cheese and other desired toppings. Italian sausage is my favorite. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes or golden brown.

This makes enough for a small round pizza pan – both the dough and sauce recipe. I usually double the recipe and use a large cookie sheet with edges.
