High Protein Foods That Kill Fat

I got this in an e-mail from our insurance company today and thought I’d share it.

Protein, the body’s major building material, is composed of amino acids that are necessary for hormone production as well as building muscle tissue. Besides providing these benefits, some high protein foods supply other ingredients that have been proven effective in reducing body fat and enhancing weight loss.

Tuna
Easy and convenient, canned tuna is jam-packed with protein in addition to omega fatty acids, which are healthy fats that induce fat loss. According to research reported in the August 1997 issue of the “International Journal of Obesity,” omega 3s found in fish oil stimulate fat oxidation, or the breakdown of fat, and boost weight loss.

Eggs
The perfect protein, eggs help fight fat by decreasing appetite, according to research published in the February 2010 issue of “Nutrition Research.” Subjects ingesting eggs at breakfast consumed fewer calories throughout the day and had lower levels of ghrelin, a hormone that increases hunger, compared to those without eggs at breakfast. Eat eggs regularly to increase satiety and boost fat loss.

Black Beans
Although sometimes forgotten, legumes can be a good source of protein. Black beans are a legume that is not only important due to its high protein content, but also because it contains fat-busting dietary fiber. According to the February 2010 issue of the “American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,” high fiber intakes were associated with reductions in waist circumference.
