Deviled Beef in the Crockpot

Sorry I didn’t post yesterday but the 2008 Watkins catalogs are in and I was kind of busy.

If you’ve got a busy day coming up, try this delicious crockpot beef.

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds stew beef
  • 1 envelope (1 1/2 oz) Sloppy Joe mix
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 cup coarsely sliced celery
  • 2 tablespoon vinegar
  • shortening
  • flour
  • salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Mix flour salt and pepper together.
  2. Dredge the beef in the flour and then brown in shortening in skillet.
  3. Place all ingredients in slow cooker, stir to mix.
  4. Cover and cook 10 hours on low or 4 1/2 to 5 hours on high.

Serve with rice
This dish can also be prepared in the oven: just cook it in a covered 2 quart dish for 2 to 2 1/2 hours in a 325 degree oven.
