Country Pork and Asiago Cheeseburger

Looking for hearty bold burger?  Then you really need to try this one. Those of you who are real meat-lovers will love the combination of bacon, sausage and ground pork.  If you want something not quite as bold, use lean ground beef instead of the ground pork. To tone it down even more, substitute mozzarella for the asiago cheese.

INGREDIENTS

  • one large sweet onion, sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 Pound ground pork
  • 1/2 Pound country sausage
  • 8 strips bacon, chopped
  • 1/4 Cup parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • salt and pepper
  • Asiago cheese
  • 6 sandwich buns

DIRECTIONS

  • Cook the onion slices in butter until tender.  Set aside.
  • While the onions are cooking, mix the ground pork, sausage, chopped bacon, parsley and thyme together in a large bowl.  Form patties.
  • Cook the burgers and top with cheese.
  • Place burger on a prepared bun and top with onion.

Thanks, and for anyone that is having trouble chopping onions without the tears, here’s an incredibly easy tip – put them in the fridge first, then chop them straight away after taking them out! No more tears! I use this great fruit and vegetable chopper here if anyone wants an easy way to do it.
